Volume 1 - The Seventies - Along the Biggelake

German Railroads - Volume 1 is now available in shops in the USA and Canada. Our distributor Strategy First have put it on the shelf in April 2003. So look for that at your store or order it there. Also available on AMAZON.COM .

The first add-on focuses on the 1970’s. We choose the route Finnentrop – Olpe – Betzdorf with a branch from Olpe to Dieringhausen. The route goes through an idyllic area (IE along the Bigge valley barrier) and besides that little and medium sized railroad stations which offer a lot of user created possibilities. The total length of the route is ca 100 Km and that’s why you always can do an activity in a realistic time frame.

Because of the route now is gone it isn’t a complete reconstruction of every detail, but we made sure that the most important buildings and the route layout are close to the real thing.

All along the route there are a lot of industrial tracks and so diverse activities are possible. And along those tracks there are of course the appropriate buildings.

Of course we value the ‘enjoyment of playing’.  Hence the over 30 activities included in this add-on and with more to come. And we put effort in recreating the realistic representation of the German railway system. The railroad signs and signals correspond to the guidelines of the DB. That’s why the logo on the box. We worked together with representatives of the DB and we can with pride, that the ‘feeling’ of the German secondary route in the 70’s was recreated.

You can drive the whole track just with the help of the speed manual and the railroad signs from within the cab, without using the game monitors. When you’re out of the cab they are of course very useful.

In order to give non-railroad buffs the chance to learn the many railroad signs, we not only have a detailed signal overview but a tutorial activity as well in which all the signals and signs will be explained. So that everybody not familiar will have fun with this route.
